Lesson 35: Historical Trade Between Frigid and Temperate Zones

lesson image

In past times, people would go to the Frigid Zones and catch seals and other animals and bring back the skins for the Temperate Zone people.

The whale, which lives in the ocean of the Frigid Zone, was also very useful in the past. From it we got the whalebone, oil, and fertilizer to help our farm crops to grow. Great quantities of whale meat were eaten by some people of the Temperate Zones.

The Inuits of the Frigid Zone were glad to have from the Temperate Zones manufactured articles like pans, knives, and guns.

Notebook Work: Label the top of your notebook page with "LESSON 35." Draw a vertical line down the middle of the paper. Label one side FRIGID ZONE and sketch two Frigid Zone items for trade. Label the other side TEMPERATE ZONE and sketch two Temperate Zone items for trade. Draw horizontal arrows showing the flow of goods between the zones.
